GitHub Highlights is a daily publication about open-source repositories that just became worth knowing about. It is written for people who will actually run the code, not for people collecting bookmarks.
Every post covers one project and answers four questions: what it does, why it surfaced now, how it works, and where it is weak. That last one matters most. Most discovery feeds tell you what is trending and stop there, which leaves you to find out the hard way that a project has no tests, one maintainer, or an API that changes every release.
Repository figures are dated snapshots taken at the moment the post was written, never live badges. A star count with no date attached is not a fact, it is decoration. Every number in a post links back to the source it came from, so any claim can be checked.
Two posts a day, published from a scored discovery queue rather than a trending list, across nine categories: AI and machine learning, developer tools, web, infrastructure, data, security, languages, applications and self-hosted software, and hardware and robotics.
The site is a static Astro build, free to read, with no account, no paywall and no newsletter gate. There is an RSS feed and full-text search.
